[Solved] Support Ending for Intel-based Apps

What is the plan for supporting Universal Media Server on Macs moving forward? I'm getting the following message when running UMS on my Macbook M2.

"This version of "Universal Media Server" includes a component that will not work with a future release of macOS. Learn how to update to an Apple silicon version."

I don't know anything about Macs but I'm pretty sure there is already an apple silicon build.
The devs use Macs so they would have been aware of this and made the necessary changes for future versions.

Looking at the downloads for MacOS there is builds for arm (I assume this means M2 etc), pre10.15 (OS version?), and x86_64 (intel)
I'm guessing the version you are using is running in some sort of compatibility mode to translate intel to apple silicon and that is what support is ending.

Does that message say anything specific about what component that will not work?

I just downloaded the ARM version of the MacOS build and that seems to be the solution. Thanks!

Just downloading the ARM version of UMS is not actually the solution, and the problem is not solved. You just won't see that warning more than once for the same app.

The UMS ARM version still "includes a component that will not work with a future release of macOS.", that is, built for Intel processors. Support for that is ending in macOS 28, in a year from now. There are actually several third-party helper app components that are inside the main app. The files dcraw, flac, mencoder, mplayer, and tsMuxeR need to be replaced with ARM versions. Those are already available in the latest versions, with ready-compiled ones in Homebrew. The other ones are also out of date, and should be updated. One, tsMuxeR, is not even a Mac app, but the Linux version, and is completely non-functional.

I think there may have been a mis-configuration when that version was built as the dependencies for other systems should not have been included, and the other programs should have been the MacOS version.

Someone else opened an issue about this the other day so should be fixed soon.

Most of those programs (mencoder, mplayer, dcraw, and flac) will only be used in specific situations so should be fine to remove them if it is causing a problem with running UMS, and just use FFmpeg for transcoding as that version is correct.
