Here's a new log files : I configured as you requested , Trace and Fatal(FFMPEG) , AVC/HEVC etc.. as you suggested. I used 3 movies
1 Mission Impossible, subtitle .srt files is next to the /mkv : directlink (no transcode folder) , failed, then transcode FFMPEG , also failed. It took less than 1 sec to fail
2 2001, Space Odyssey : many subtitles, no .srt files : 3 english FFMPEG audio/english sub available in transcode forlder : all failed, but it took long time to do so.
3 The book of solution, French / no subtilte FFMPEG : it works , no waiting time
If i disable all subtitles, all movies FFMPEG work, but no subtitle even from Transcode folder : UI shows subtitlse , but not while running the movie.

Mission.Impossible is failing the same way my Squid game is.
(I shortened file names)
I suspect it may be because it has multiple audio tracks, I will have to do a bit of testing of this.
This will be one that will refuse to play immediately.
Do you find that this is the same for other videos with more that one audio track?
I think there is a problem here with the interaction of subtitles and many audio tracks as I have a dual audio anime that plays fine without subs but returns the same error when enabled.
I did mention this on the Forced subs issue I made but it appears to be separate so I'll make another after more testing.
For 2001.A.Space.Odyssey FFmpeg seems to stop analysing the video after coming to stream #9 then soon after it says EOF (end of file)
Does this video play normally on your computer? If not it could be a partial download.
If this plays just fine on your computer could you upload this somewhere so I can test it on my system. You could use Mega.nz then PM me the link.
The last video Le.Livre.des.solutions looks normal but as it has no subs so it proves these are an issue.

I found what is causing the multiple audio tracks to fail. I was able to get it to transcode from the command line with a little edit.

Yes 2001 plays normally on my PC, I uploaded it to mega, the link will be send in PM.
I also tried the version 15.0.0, but still same issues..
Let s hope devs can fix the bugs with future releases...

OK I can confirm that video will play without subtitles but it does appear to suffer the same issue as the other multi audio videos I mentioned before.
However while testing using the FFmpeg command UMS uses for you to play that video I found another issue with the font colour being read as an invalid command and I found this also happens for those other videos.
I think this may be a bug or a change in FFmpeg itself as when I search how it is supposed to look it is correct.
This is what is used and the documentation shows this is correct but will only work if you remove the &
Could you do a test and run the transcode command in the command line on your computer?
To bring it up type cmd in windows search box then select command prompt for the result.
This is the original command that is being used but sent to test.mpg instead of a pipe.
It should give the error "Filter 'subtitles:default' has output 0 (unlabeled) unconnected"
This one should get further but report " 'H00FFFFFF' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file."
(I don't know why but this never appeared in your logs.)
And this one should work and start to transcode.

You can press ctrl+c to stop it and delete the test.mpg video it made.

Yeah that looks good and confirms what I was seeing.
I think this may have be the cause of some problems some others reported in v14 that I was unable to track down, I never thought about running this in the command line at the time. I'll have to find that thread and go over it again to see how similar the results were.
IIRC I think it was happening on Anime and that sometimes has dual audio and it seemed to just stop too in the logs like it did in yours.

The fix for this is done and should be in the next release 15.2
The cause was an unaccounted change in how the FFmpeg command line works.
For a temporary workaround you could download an old version of FFmpeg here (ffmpeg-2023-07-02-git-50f34172e0-essentials_build.zip)
Extract it and rename it to ffmpeg-old.exe then save in the bin folder of the UMS installation which probably is "C:\Program Files\Universal Media Server\bin\"
Then when UMS is not running edit "C:\ProgramData\UMS\UMS.conf" to change

Once you get 15.2 then you can revert this change.

For some reasons, it s not working for most videos.
It worked for old mkv 2001, space Odyssey (not affected by the susbtitle bug, where only one occurrence would be display) , but not for Impossible mission ( It has multiple subtitles, but only English forced is displayed, )
I also played some random videos, and none worked... see dbg file attached.
Any news concerning the subtitle not displaying bug, it was my original report ? Then the ffmpeg issue came to your attention !
