UMS not recognizing renderer

Post by tgcgel »

I am using 15.2.0 on a linux server (headless). I am only trying to stream audio to a network streaming device. I have configured enough such that I can get it to play from the server on my laptop via the Web GUI player. I am trying to play on a network streaming device (Cambridge Audio EXN 100). I realize this is not a directly supported device, but the EXN100 does support UPnP. I am getting the following errors from the console logs on the linux server from UMS:

INFO 16:04:23.235 [jupnp-sync-protocol 702-1] Media renderer was not recognized. Possible identifying HTTP headers:
User-Agent: Stream%20Magic/697 CFNetwork/3860.300.31 Darwin/25.2.0
Soapaction: "urn:schemas-upnp-org:service:ContentDirectory:1#Browse"
INFO 16:04:25.231 [jupnp-sync-protocol 703-1] Media renderer was not recognized. Possible identifying HTTP headers:

Soapaction: "urn:schemas-upnp-org:service:ContentDirectory:1#Browse"

The device does show in the "Detected Media Renderers" and the app that controls the streamer (Stream Magic) does show UMS on the network and allows me to browse the media share and the logs do show that the renderer is detected (though maybe with an error?)

INFO 16:20:52.842 [SpeedStats background worker 1] Checking IP: 192.168.6.89 for EXN100

Is what I am even trying to do possible?

This just says that UMS cannot detect what renderer it is to use a conf for its settings.
If it is unable to make a match it will use the default "Unknown renderer" with some basic settings that may or may not work.

To be able to make a suitable conf for that device I will need to see logs (See the section in red above) to see how it is identifying itself and need to know exactly what it is to find the manual which hopefully will show which formats are supported.

The error about "audio/ation/ogg" parsing might be something to look into but need to see the context behind it.

There is a CambridgeAudio-AzurBD.conf that could be modified to work for it if it has the same supported formats.
One thing this will tell UMS is that it can only play music so don't serve videos.

For the Stream Magic app I think this should also show separately in UMS but not sure.
This will be part of a 3 box setup with the app being the control point.
I have no experience with this so not exactly sure how it will work but I have seen discussions on this type of setup on Github as it can mess with access control.
