We have switched the default Docker operating system from Alpine Linux to Ubuntu, which fixes memory and stability problems. If you want to continue to use Alpine Linux, you can change to the universalmediaserver/ums-alpine repository.

We have also done a lot of improvements to LG TV support, with native Dolby Vision support on 2022+ models (as long as you update to WebOS 25), better TV detection, and fixed support for DTS on 2025 models, since LG has unfortunately stopped supporting DTS again after only supporting it in 2023-2024 models :/

There are a bunch of other important bugfixes for all devices which we know people have been patiently waiting for, and some more interface improvements to the web player.

Thanks to everyone who reported their bugs, and also those who helped fix them. We had a great amount of community help with this release, which in the current software climate we are even more grateful for than ever!

We can update our WebOSes to 25 now? Or the memory issue still persists?

I had a quick look around and seems like the latest FW is 33.22.85 and it may have fixed some things from what I found but can't find anything official.

This is what I found
https://www.avforums.com/threads/lg-c4- ... 6.2545940/
https://www.reddit.com/r/LGOLED/comment ... hat_webos/
https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threa ... .19010332/
https://www.reddit.com/r/LGOLED/comment ... 25_update/

Some are saying that it is not available OTA yet but they were able to download and install it from a USB drive.

You will have to do a bit of research to see if anyone has reported problems for your specific model but YMMV.

If you do update to this version let us know if you get this memory issue.

I have a LGCX. So this model doesn't have native support for dolby vision as mkv file?

It depends on if it has the WebOS 25 update.

I have seen posts about manually installing if you have not received it but you will have to look into this yourself for your model.

If there is no update available then you will need to use the old webos.conf that will allow remuxing of DV.
Let me know if you need it and I will update it so it will override the installed version.

remuxing dv is that improved? It gave me problems with some subtitles. For now im using xmedia recode to make it an .mp4 file.

Remuxing DV is still the same

While it does work if playing uninterrupted it will still have the same problems as with seeking, especially if there subtitles, as it is easy for the remuxing to become de-synced and forces a full transcode which will also mean the loss of the DV data.

If you have not got or cannot get WebOS 25 then you will have to use the old conf so it can do this.

You can get the old conf from this post and put it in C:\ProgramData\UMS\renderers
This way it will not be overwritten on an update and it has a higher priority

If you have a lot of videos using DV then it might be better to convert them to MP4 so the TV can play them natively.
You might have to get external subtitles for them to work too.

I have always two entries for my LG TV. The udn is different. This was already there in previous versions. In addition I have no thumbnails in the media player from the LG TV but I have them in the iOS devices. In the previous versions I got thumbnails on the LG TV too.

I think one of those will be the "second screen" function LG TVs have. I don't know if there is a way for UMS to tell which one is the real one so shows both as a renderer.

If thumbnails are working fine on other devices but not on your TV then it might be because the TV has its own cache of them.
Changes to the IDs in the database would mean the TV's cache will not match so the thumbnails will get mixed up if that ID still exists.
It is possible that when the database is updated along with UMS, you did a clean install, or cleared the cache in UMS to rescan your media those IDs can change.

You will have to clear the TV's cache to fix it. I don't know exactly how to do it, look for clear history option or something.
I think someone said if they disconnect the TV from the network and load the player it will reset the cache when it is reconnected.
Have a look at this
