Spotify plugin?
Hey all, I am a big fan of Ultimate Media Server and its predecessor PS3 Media Server SubJunk builds
I am aware there is a Spotify plugin for the old PS3 media server but is one for Ultimate Media Server possible? It would make this awesome program another 100x awesomer (at least until I get my new Denon receiver with Spotify support built in..)

Re: Spotify plugin?
This is very unlikely to ever happen.
It may have been possible over 10 years ago when this was first asked but a lot has changed since then like encryption, no access to Spotify's API (unless you pay a fee), limited to web playback requiring premium subscription, and UMS no longer supports plugins as most of the functionality for old plugins are now built in.
UMS can connect to internet radio but is not something I know anything about, but should be as easy as setting up the audio stream or playlist in shared content.
I know some work has been done to support Audioaddict which is a paid subscription service and I don't know its progress or if it will be added to UMS. You can see more about that here.

Re: Spotify plugin?
Actually, this is totally possible by using Spotty (https://github.com/michaelherger/Spotty-Plugin/). You just need to have a paid Spotify account, because it doesn't work with free ones. Spotty will act as a DRM-free proxy server for Spotify. Once you have Spotty up and running, it's just a matter of adding the station as an audio stream shared resource. You can also do the same thing with SiriusXM by using this proxy server (https://github.com/paul-1/SiriusXM-Perl). I'm getting off topic, though, by talking about that.
