Videos start a short loop after a few minutes on Roku
Hi all,
Here I am again with another issue - or issues.
Just a little bit of context first: in March last year, I was in Brazil connecting remotely via OpenVPN to UMS in my place in Canada and watching videos on Chrome perfectly. There were no issues at all, except maybe a slow connection. Forward to September, and I was in Mexico, trying to do the same thing and failing. Miserably. The videos would play for a couple of minutes and then enter a loop, repeating the last few seconds over and over. I tried to forward, same thing. Eventually, the browser only showed that spinning wheel and nothing else was played. I tried Firefox as well, same thing. When I came back home, I realized that my Roku was doing the same thing, and Chrome could now play simple videos (AVI, SD) but not MP4 or MKV in HD, for example.
The log attached recorded the looping issue on Roku and then another one, for which there already is an open topic (viewtopic.php?p=50479#p50479). It starts with the video playing on Roku, then looping around 1:58. I then went to the PS3, tried to play the same video using the main list, but I got only audio, no video (which was unusual: I normally get nothing). I then went to the transcode folder on PS3 and could play the video by selecting the FFMpeg decoder.
I like to use Roku; it's simpler than booting up the PS3 every time I want to watch something, but I can't use it anymore. The PS3 issue is being dealt with on another topic, so I'll follow that to see how it goes.
Here's the log: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/a79zc2bk ... iq7gl&dl=0
Thank you for all your work!

Re: Videos start a short loop after a few minutes on Roku
Have same issue. 15.4.0. MP4 and FFmpeg has identical loop problem. Local network in home no VPN involvement. Laptop to Roku stick. Testing MKV and FFmpeg same result. Did a fw and reverse, about 2 minutes playing then begins looping for that 2 minutes of playback.

That sucks. I hope someone will look into it now that there is another reported issue.

SAME THING FOR ME

@julbroa could you post your logs.
I missed this when it was first posted (had just moved) but checking the logs from jdecape71 I did not see anything odd.
I know HLS is used for Roku that splits the video into segments (6s in this one) like is done for Youtube etc, and I can see the 3 segments in the logs appear to be done correctly in sequence.
I don't know all the details of how this all works so I might be missing something but it does seem correct.
Maybe somewhere one segment is not being cleared from the buffer so it is sending the same one over and over.
Does the happen in older versions of UMS or did it break recently?
