Re: Help with Linux Mint
And, can you give me the output of:
sudo grep "your username" /etc/group
sudo grep "your username" /etc/group
Re: Help with Linux Mint
this is using the terminal when this problem happens. NOT using the GUI? the error has happened with both & it is in the downloads folder

Re: Help with Linux Mint
Is your username: cooltwou
Re: Help with Linux Mint
Let's do this a different way.
Ww will change the group to users which cooltwou is in that group.
Then we will give the group write access.
Do this.
cd /opt
sudo chown root:users ums -R
sudo chmod g+rwx ums -R
sudo chmod g+s ums -R
Then copy UMS-Linux-15.6.0-x86_64.tgz to: /opt/ums/
Then from the /opt/ums/ folder:
tar -xvzf UMS-Linux-15.6.0-x86_64.tgz
See how that works out.

Re: Help with Linux Mint
There was an error in my previous post.
I have changed it now.
Originally it was:
sudo chown root:cooltwou ums -R
Now changed to:
sudo chown root:users ums -R
