UMS stuck in loading "init media scanner" phase

I'm on a 2020 intel iMac and have never had this problem before, where UMS won't even open but instead is stuck hanging on that initial screen. I reinstalled, deleted the database folder in Application Support and everything else I've tried when I've rarely had issues with UMS.

Also every time I try to open the application it prompts me to pick a language?

There were no errors showing but something must be wrong as there is very little in the logs, plus there weres in the wrong mode.
If you cannot open the GUI to set the log level to TRACE mode then edit /Users/cic_steve/Library/Application Support/UMS/UMS.conf to add

log_level =trace

When UMS is not running then restart it.

Post the new debug.log and your UMS.conf files from the /Users/cic_steve/Library/Application Support/UMS/ folder.
Might be best to add the SHARED.conf too as that is the last entry in these logs so something might be wrong with it.
