Hardware Transcode VA-API?
Hardware Transcode VA-API?
Hello,
I need the ability to use hardware transcoding on my Linux (Docker) system. My system is running on an older Intel CPU, an i5-4210U, which under Linux can only perform hardware encoding using the older Intel i965 driver with VA-API and FFmpeg.
Therefore, it would be great if there could be an option to use VA-API as an available hardware acceleration method instead of only the h264_qsv acceleration method.
It would be great if this could be added in the future. Thanks for considering this!

Re: Hardware Transcode VA-API?
I don't know much about Linux but thought VA-API was more OS related.
I have seen this as available as "ffmpeg_available_gpu_acceleration_methods" in the logs and are saved into UMS.conf.
Looking into it I can see there are options to specifically use this with FFMpeg.
I have made a request for this on Github
