Bandwith Vs Quality Problems

Post by m3klan »

Hello, name is João and I'm a user of UMS. I made the switch from PMS when I saw I had better results quality wise with UmS than with PMS. On most mkv's I played it seemed to have no slowdown, or stutter and no quality loss. But last week I saw some of my mkv to start to stutter. Naturally I started to play with the Bandwith settings to see if things improved (I didn't want to change the transcode quality, because i didn't want to compromise the quality I was used to). I finally found a sweetspot were no slowdown was visiable (capped at 20MB/s). But here is the strange part, the lower the value I put in the "Maximum Bandwith" tab, the more degraded the image quality became. And this was strange to me because I didn't think the bandwith had anything to do with the transcode quality. Why is this happening? Am I doing something wrong?

My best regards,
João.
