PMS 1.54 Can Play New Release Which UMS 2.42 Can't

Howdy,

I downloaded a 720p HDTV broadcast from last night in MKV format. When I attempted to play the file on my PS3 via UMS 2.42, UMS would hang at a black screen before the first frame of the video appeared. As a last resort, I used the ancient Playstation Media Server 1.54 to play the video, and much to my surprise my PS3 was able to transcode the 720p capture without any issues.

Could someone please explain why UMS has issues playing a video that an ancient version of PMS has no problems with?

OK it's like I thought, PMS is using MEncoder while UMS is using tsMuxeR. You can go into the transcode folder in UMS and select MEncoder (or even better FFmpeg)

I've switched the Video File Engine of UMS 2.42 from TsMuxer to MEncoder, and restarted the server.
The video is still stuck at the same spot. I've also enabled FFMPEG as the default encoder and received the same error.

Enclosed is the log of the MEncoder UMS attempt.

Looks like you've found a bug in our build of MPlayer, thanks for the report. I will try to fix it for the next version

I've downloaded an alternate 720p capture of the HDTV broadcast in question and it streams to my PS3 via UMS 2.42 flawlessly using FFmpeg and MEncoder.
