Re: Errors expected/normal?
Thanks very much for taking the time to reply.
I thought that the fact it identified the TV as a recognised renderer would mean that it knows what it can and cant play and so should "do what it needs to do" immediately and "just play"?
with no need to venture into the transcode folder

So its a universal media server, and in general I have good experience with it.
But I recently downloaded a film which was "xxxxxxxx WEB AC3 H264-DJT.mkv" and ...

Re: Apologies for a VERY noob question. Subtitles not shown.
Thanks again...

I updated my post to confirm that the TRANSCODE folder and options WERE available when going UMS -> Samsung TV directly..
Selecting the VLC option (same as I did with the PS4).. resulted in no compatible video at all.. which I ...

Re: Apologies for a VERY noob question. Subtitles not shown.
Thanks,
Your description is a bit fuzzy, as you mention "It depends on the device", which device (in my scenario 2)? the NAS? the PS4? or the TV?
I thought I got it clear in my head by relating to (in UMS terms), the "device" = "renderer", but UMS shows my TV, PS4 and my NAS as renderers..so still ...

Apologies for a VERY noob question. Subtitles not shown.

How do subtitles actually work? which device is responsible for adding them to the picture?
The reason I ask, I have some downloaded videos, and they have embeded subtitles (I know this as I can select them and they work if I use VLC player)
If ...

Congratulations
I have been critical of your past 2 (or 3?) releases, with the difficulty in getting the 64 bit version
So in the spirit of fairness, just wanted to say "well done"
With the release of 14.11 (to us plebs who are not Patreon), all the past problems seem to be fixed.
