Those log files were not in trace mode so the information I can see is limited.
You can get log files from inside the container. As long as you can access the web interface from another computer you can download them.

I think I will update the instructions to include doing it from the browser as those were originally written for the old GUI.

I can see the configuration folder being used is file:///home/ums/.config/UMS/ because of where the UMS.conf is

Code: Select all

path set to file:///home/ums/.config/UMS/UMS.conf
This is also where the database and the logs are kept.
I assume Docker has the same file structure as this VM.

There should be a folder inside that called renderers where you can put your custom conf.
Rename it to Yamaha-RXA2040.conf though to prevent conflicts with the existing Yamaha-RXA2050.conf
Leave the old renderer confs as they are, they would be restored on an update anyway and any custom confs in this location may get overwritten.

Since your conf is included in the logs then it is being used however I see that you have set this as the default renderer and have hidden the rest so I cannot be sure if UMS would always automatically make a match.

I can't see the headers in this log mode but I do see it made a match here

Code: Select all

DEBUG 2026-02-26 16:39:54.821 [jupnp-remote-listener 46-1] Matched media renderer "Yamaha RX-A2040" based on dlna details "RX-A2040 172.16.10.223 5f9ec1b3-ed59-1900-4530-00a0deb80016 Yamaha Corporation RX-A2040 A2040 AV Receiver http://www.yamaha.com/ http://www.yamaha.com/"
IS DTS working for you now?
I don't see any attempts at playing something and the final verdict on whether to stream or transcode does not show when not in trace mode so I cannot see what UMS would do.

I do see some exception errors on some files but have no context at what is happening in this mode.
I think it just cannot retrieve some metadata for them but not sure, otherwise those should still be playable.

DTS playing still does not work.
I started UMS again in trace mode and after I played some audio DTS files from Alison Moyet, but there is no sound at all, also no hiss which you normal hear is you play a DTS file as Flac/mp3.
MP3 and Flac files are played without problem.

I stopped the docker UMS for now and concentrate on UMS on headless Ubuntu server. The audio files (MP3, Flac, DTS) are all in their own subfolder of Multimedia/Music. All the files are reachable

attached is the newest log file, I hope you can "see" more.

Looking at your logs I can see UMS is streaming those files so it should work as long as that receiver can play DTS music files.

I did a bit of googling on what formats it can play but could not get any definite information.
I did find a link to your old post here where you confirmed it does not play DTS (at least not in WAV files) which means any music using DTS will need to be transcoded.
The reply from Yamaha said the same thing
Yamaha Reply

For playing audio over network the device supports WAV (PCM Only), MP3
WMA, MPEG-4AAC, FLAC and ALAC (Apple Lossless Audio Codec).
I had made a conf for you that should have worked, you never said if it did or not. Try downloading that one.

The default transcoding profile for audio is LPCM according to documentation in the DefaultRenderer.conf, but is set to WAV in this conf
If this is not good then you can try the other options since WAV is PCM only

Code: Select all

# Profile to use for transcoding audio files
# Options: "LPCM", "MP3" or "WAV".
# Default: LPCM
TranscodeAudio =

DTS is playing, but stops after 2 files/songs. MP3 and FLAC play the complete album

After editing the config file you send some time ago (sorry, but my complete NAS crashed at that time and I forgot the UMS forum) I found it and made the config change in UMS
After that I did an update of the Ubuntu IOS and after that UMS did not work. After an update from 15.2.0 to 15.4.0 UMS did function again, only the menu option "Server Settings" does not work any more and goes to a blanc page.
Radio stations which are no longer supported by my cable supplier over FM.

The blank screen when opening settings was found to happen when there is a duplicate in some data sent to the browser when each bit should be unique so there is a conflict.
I can't be sure what it is here as I can't remember where to look, but I have seen it happen if 2 renderer names are the same.

Since you are using the conf I made previously I did not know about this issue at the time so never changed the RendererName.
Try changing this to something like "Yamaha RX-A2040" instead of "Yamaha AV Receiver" and hopefully this is all that is needed to fix this.

If not look for errors in your web browser console. In Firefox you can open it with Ctrl+Shift+J but don't know on other browsers.
You should clear all entries first then load the settings page and this should say what is stopping it from displaying.

I can see UMS will transcode WAV files with DTS but as TranscodeAudio is also set to WAV it may not be removing the DTS data. Try setting to MP3 instead.

With "radio stations ........" i mean that i now can listen to radio again while UMS offers the option to stream audio (in this case a radio stream) .
Previous my Yamaha could play radio while my cable provider supplied a FM signal, but they stopped it 2-3 years ago to gain some bandwith for other internet stuff. I didnt want to put up a FM antenna outdoor, so i had no radio, until i discovered the streaming radio link and putting it in UMS shared content. (https://icecast.omroep.nl/radio2-bb-aac)

In the RXA2040.conf the render name was "Yamaha AV Receiver", i changed it to "Yamaha RX-A2040"
I can confirm that the blanc page with "Server Tools" is gone after changing the duplicate setting.

In the RXA2040.conf file i set the TranscodeAudio to MP3 . Is this what you mean?

Video = false
Image = false
SeekByTime = true
#TranscodeAudio = WAV
TranscodeAudio = MP3

I will check in the evening if the WAV -> MP3 change has influenced the continuous playing

Yeah that should do it.

If continuous play does not work it might be because it is being transcoded and your receiver does not know beforehand what data it would be getting.
With video it would take a while to transcode but fast enough to be done while playing.
Audio might be able to finish completely before starting so the whole file can be transferred at once and in theory should allow continuous playback as if it was a normal music file. It would probably strip all the metadata though which the receiver might be expecting to allow it to automatically play the next file.

Hopefully it would work better if it was using MP3, if not you may have to manually convert all those WAV using DTS into another format yourself to preserve all the metadata the receiver might be expecting.

It looks very promising :-)

I played 1 Dire Straits album (WAV/DTS) and one after the other file/song is played now. the 2 song stop is not there anymore.
Changing "TranscodeAudio = WAV to TranscodeAudio = MP3" seems to do the trick.

Also WAV/DTS files seem to play fine on my RX A2040 receiver, after "creating" the custom YamahaRX-A2040.conf file.

I want to thank everyone for their input and patience !!
