" Media renderer was not recognized from IP"
Hello.
I have 8 errors "INFO Media renderer was not recognized from IP xxxx. Possible identifying HTTP headers:
User-Agent: Linux/2.6 UPnP/1.0 fbxlanbrowser/1.0" every 30 seconds in my logs
what does it mean and how to correct it if possible ?
Is it linked with the fact of my PS4 (my main multimedia server on TV) often has streaming lagging/interrupted and some "no media found" during browsing ?

Re: " Media renderer was not recognized from IP"
It just means there is a device UMS does not recognise so cannot identify it.
I looked up what fbxlanbrowser is and it could be something called popcorn hour as one result was on this forum here.
There is a conf for this device so it should work but I could not get much else from the logs as they were not in trace mode.
If you have no idea what this is then it could be something else.
The IP is 192.168.0.254 which could be your router. Maybe it has some media streaming capability or network storage.
You will have to check what exactly is that device is on that IP.
I don't think this has anything to do with any lagging as you have a good network speed to the PS4.
If you can replicate this lagging then do some more logs making sure UMS is in trace mode following the instructions in red above

Re: " Media renderer was not recognized from IP"
I merged your posts as they are the same.
Did you find out what device is at IP 192.168.0.254?
I did see many messages saying the connection was dropped
Please follow the instructions in the red section above and do your logs again.
Looking at your UMS.conf I can see it is very old as it has settings that have been removed, renamed, or moved to a different conf many versions ago.
I suggest doing a clean install to eliminate problems caused by this. You can chose this in the advanced section when installing. You should backup C:\ProgramData\UMS first just in case you want to restore your SHARED.conf or the database if you want to keep your played status.

Re: " Media renderer was not recognized from IP"
OK, thanks. I did not think they were the same issues.
I had no lags before.
the IP is the one of my DNS on the computer running UMS.
no too late, i'll launch in TRACE tomorrow.
doing a clean install too (never noticed that option^^)

Re: " Media renderer was not recognized from IP"
Nothing was playing on the PS4 and it was not even detected.
When creating the logs make sure you replicate the problem before packing the files.
What do you mean by your DNS running on the computer that is running UMS? Are you using something like a PI hole?
UMS is using the IP 192.168.0.40 so I don't see how it can also have the IP 192.168.0.254 but I know next to nothing about networking.
You could block 192.168.0.254 in UMS so it will be ignored.
You could also turn off this DNS and see if that has an effect. If you have it set up for privacy you could unplug your internet connection first so isolate your local network.

Re: " Media renderer was not recognized from IP"
sorry not good either in network and in technical english.
the IP is the adresse of my internet box. A freebox.
the log was to investigate on why the renderer is not detected as freebox.
It should be recognized as freebox, but no. when i click on it, UMS wants always to create a new conf file, even after creating one based on freebox conf file.

Re: " Media renderer was not recognized from IP"
OK I checked what a freebox is and it is a combined router and set top box so that explains why UMS is detecting it as a media renderer.
It has nothing to do with DNS
If you want to use this to play media on then I could make a decent conf so UMS will identify it, but I will need to know what it's model number is so I can search for what it can play, or a link to a manual I can download.
When you create a conf in the GUI it just makes a blank conf with that device's UUID or IP where you can add your own settings.
That will be saved in C:\ProgramData\UMS\renderers
There is an old freebox conf but does not match the user-agent yours has so I tweaked that one so it would.
I have no idea how good it will be as it seems contradictory on streaming or transcoding and does not list supported formats so some videos might get streamed that are incompatible.
Copy to C:\ProgramData\UMS\renderers and delete any others that may have been created here
If you have no interest in this then just block it in UMS, however this may also any traffic though it so if nothing is detected when the PS4 is on then unblock it again. Your PS4 problems could be due to network speed to it but in your previous logs it had a speed of 54mb/s which should be fast enough but will need to see trace logs of the PS4 playing video to get any more info.
In that log the freebox had a speed of 222mb/s but in the latest only showed 55mb/s
As this is also your router and all traffic has to pass though this there should not be such a big change and this may be what is causing the PS4 to lag.
Could you give more information on how your network is set up? is it wired or Wifi? Is the connection to the computer wired?

Re: " Media renderer was not recognized from IP"
thanks a lot, i'll try.
I started it in TRACE mode yesterday, but no lag since then...
maybe because the freebox does not spams errors anymore ^^
